We are Royal Alexandra hospital, in Paisley, Scotland. We are under NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
We are running our challenge from the 1st to the 15th of May.
We have lovely new reclining chairs and bed chairs in the ward to facilitate sustained periods of kangaroo care.
One of our families achieved 9 hours of skin contact on the 2nd of May between mum and dad!!
We have lots of posters and banners up with the benefits of kc care.
I had tshirts printed and we are waiting on badges coming to hopefully Monday.
We had a cake with our kangaroo on it on the first day of our challenge.
We had made chocolate kangaroo lollipops for the unit!
We are using the parents nurturing logs to document the hours of kc parents are achieving.
We are also having a celebration tea on May 15th to finish off our challenge. We are having lovely cupcakes made with our kangaroo on the top of them!
This is our chart which is where we are noting our hours. | |
This is the little cards that I made for the cost and incubators. They are small laminated cards which act as a visual prompt for parents and staff to promote kangaroo care. |
