- To bring your celebration to life, consider setting a budget and exploring creative ways to raise funds or gather in-kind donations from sources that do not include parents. Every contribution—big or small—helps support families and create meaningful impact.

Reach Out to Community Partners
Connect with local businesses, NICU parent organizations, hospital foundations, or service groups who may be willing to donate funds, supplies, or sponsor part of your event.
2. Host a Donation Drive
Ask for donations of items that support skin-to-skin care (e.g., unscented soaps, water bottles, snacks, books, journals, The Zaky ZAK, or baby hats). These can be included in parent gift bags.
3. Organize a Bake Sale or Coffee Stand
Set up a small table with baked goods, coffee, or snacks in the hospital cafeteria, lobby, or staff lounge. Include information about Kangaroo Care and where proceeds will go.
4. Sponsor-a-Hour Campaign
Invite donors to “sponsor” one hour of Kangaroo Care by contributing a set amount per hour held. Share stories or milestones as you track progress.
5. GoFundMe or other fundraiser app
Create a campaign to fund your Kangaroo Care Day (May 15) celebrations
6. Social Media Giving Campaign
Use your hospital’s or unit’s social media to raise awareness and encourage donations. Share stories, goals, and how funds will directly support families.
7. Local Fundraiser Event
Host a family-friendly event in the community—such as a walk, wellness class, or storytime hour—with a suggested donation to attend.
8. Donation Matching
Ask your hospital foundation or a local business to match employee or community donations for a limited time.
9. Virtual Fundraiser
Set up an online donation page where friends, family, and community members can give directly to your Kangaroo Care Day efforts.
10. Partner with a NICU Alumni Family or a parent organization
Invite a family who benefited from Kangaroo Care to share their story and support a fundraising campaign—either in person or online.
