Yamile Jackson, PhD, PE, PMP, is an ergonomics and safety engineer, published author, and mother of a premature baby.

Inspired by her son Zachary’s NICU journey, she founded Nurtured by Design® and created The Zaky® family of evidence-based solutions used in hospitals worldwide to support Skin-to-Skin (Kangaroo) Care, neuroprotective developmental care, and trauma-informed family-centered practices.

She also founded International Kangaroo Care Awareness Day (May 15).
